Maine Cat

Maine Cat, founded by in 1993 Dick and Linda Vermeulen, builds the line of Maine Cat production cruisers designed by Dick, as well as custom multihulls. In 1999, the company moved to a new 25000 sq ft (2323 sq m) facility on the Medomak River in Maine, USA, where they specialise in manufacturing lightweight boats using GRP and Core-Cell sandwich. The company prides itself on the expertise and dedication of its team of about fifteen long-serving craftsmen.

The first production model built was the Maine Cat 22, a folding daysailor designed by Dick Newick. More commercial success, however, came with the first of Dick Vermeulen's own designs to go into serial production, the Maine Cat 30. It was introduced in 1966 and more than 40 units were produced in the subsequent 5 years. In 2002 the Maine Cat 38 was introduced, followed by the Maine Cat 41 in 2003.
