The creation of the ExclusivE 76

The ExclusivE 76, long distance cruising maxi-catamaran has just completed an important phase in its construction; the two half sides of the yacht and the flybridge have in fact been removed from their manufacturing moulds at the King Cat/ Vip Composites yard in Olonne-sur-Mer. The finished platform is now in a position to receive its fittings prior to the deck being sealed.

A totally successful platform
“The operation went well” according to Gilles Payen, director of VIP Composites in charge of the manufacture of the large pleasure multihull for Exclusive Marine. “We are very satisfied with the removal from the mould. We lifted the boat in its entirety and trailered the mould away. The surface condition of the two floats is of optimal quality".

The mastering of the infusion technique by the Vendée yard worked wonders again. The 15 technicians who work on the ExclusivE 76 on a daily basis will now set to work on the deck, which should be affixed in 5 weeks time. Next comes the installation of the windows, followed by the flybridge, the last large composite part of the boat. The positioning of the tanks, the engine and the cabling will also be one of their main concerns whilst awaiting the interior fit out.

Some individually fitted out ‘cocoons’:
“The various interior fixtures and fittings won't be directly installed into the yacht" specifies Gilles Payen “We have manufactured some cocoons, which are like large cases the size of the galley, the cabins... in which we will install the furniture… They will then be incorporated directly into the ExclusivE 76. This method, which is a novel addition to our working methods, will enable us to make faster progress in the construction of the yacht, whilst greatly facilitating the work of the specialised staff, such as joiners, electricians or plumbers… A real challenge in our manufacturing process!”
