Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prevost (MVPVLP) received their first commission for a cruising catamaran in 1984, the Lagoon 55. Since then they have designed more than 240 cruising catamarans from 38 ft (11.6 m) and up, and are the principal architects of the entire Lagoon range.
Other cruising designs include the Sud Composites Switch 51 and the Catana Aikane 56.
DOUCE FRANCE, 138 ft (42 m), the largest sailing catamaran ever built, is an MVPVLP design, as are a series of other luxury supercats either sailing or in production.
The team has a long and illustrious record as innovative racing multihull architects. In 1983 they designed the outstanding 50 ft (15.2 m) racing trimaran GERARD LAMBERT. Since then VPLV have successfully introduced adventurous and effective new concepts to racing multihulls with such designs as BISCUIT CANTREAU 1, 2, 3 and 4; PIERRE 1er, PRIMAGAZ, BROCELIANDE and GROUPAMA, which sail with the centre hull out of the water in strong winds. HYDROPTERE, BONDUELLE, FILA and FONCIA were the result of the next evolution of racing design philosophy from MVPVLP.
In 2008 Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost celebrate 25-years of collaboration.
Future projects include the launch of the maxi trimaran BANQUE POPULAIRE V (130 ft) in July and the GEMINI, one of the biggest private cruising catamarans in the world (145 ft). Another 70 ft series - a follow-up to the ORMA racing trimaran series - should appear around 2010.
