Lavranos Marine Design Ltd

Angelo Lavranos set up practice as a yacht designer in Cape Town in 1975 and produced a series of successful racing boats including IOR (International Offshore Rule), Open 60 and IMS (International Measurement System) cruiser-racers as well as a full range of cruisers and superyachts. Since resettling in New Zealand in 1966 his office has produced a range of power catamarans, sailing catamarans as well as various commercial craft. Monohull designs have not been neglected, but catamarans have become a particular interest and speciality.

Before the move to New Zealand Angelo Lavranos designed DOUBLE TROUBLE, the fastest boat in South Africa and holder of several speed records. He also drew the very successful St Francis 44 catamaran with a production run of 44. More recently he was responsible for the St Francis 48, which was introduced at the Miami Boat Show in 2001.
