Hedley Nicol
Hedley Nicol made a substantial contribution to the development of multihulls in Australia in the 1960s. His 36 ft (11 m) Vagabond was so successful against the monohull fleet that multihulls were banned from races by the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club in 1964.
In 1966, Hedley Nicol vanished with his boat on a trip to San Francisco in somewhat mysterious circumstances. Some of his designs continued to be built in Australia and the US and a few are still available on the used boat market.
