Aldis Eglajs

Aldis Eglajs designed the Catri range of hydrofoil-assisted trimarans. In more than light winds, Catri trimarans are supported by fore and aft foils on the leeward float and a foil on the rudder. Catris are reported to be stable at speeds exceeding 25 knots and to cope well with lumpy sea conditions.

In the early 1980s, Aldis Egaljs developed CENTAURUS II, a one-way proa with foils and a sail inclined to windward, that recorded a top speed of 27 knots.
