Trailertri

Trailertri prototype

The Trailertri range of home-build, foldable trimarans were the first commercially available designs by Ian Farrier. The main design challenge was a safe boat, which was exceptionally fast as well as being easy to berth and trail, and have enough room to cruise in comfort. The solution was a lightweight trimaran with a patented float-folding mechanism.

The prototype of the range, was launched in 1974, followed by the Trailer 18 in 1996, then later the Traileri 680 and the Traileri 720.

The success of the Traileri as a cruiser and racer proved the effectiveness of the folding system and the vertatility of  Ian Farrier’s concept.  Hundreds of Traileri models were built around the world over a period of more that 10 years paving the way for the success of the later production boats from Corsair Marine and other manufacturers designed by Ian Farrier.
