Seawind

Seawind is a very popular line of cruising catamarans. The company is one of Australia’s largest exporters of yachts with 50% of production going to offshore markets such as the USA, the Caribbean, Mexico, Italy, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and more. This export success contributed to Seawind winning the 2001 “Business of the Year” and “Exporter of the Year” awards from the Illawarra Business Chamber.

The first model produced was the 24 ft (7.4 m), of which 350 were built in the 1980s - a successful model in terms of multihull sales, which are spread over so many manufacturers.

The current [2005] Seawind range consists of four models between 10 m (33 ft) and 12 m (40 ft). The layout and features of these catamarans served the growing demands of the charter businesses, and a lot of Seawinds were placed in fleets sailing in the Whitsundays, Pittwater, Sydney Harbour. the Gold Coast, Tasmania, and Melbourne.

Seawind catamarans are roomy, airy, and have good sailing performance. The earlier, smaller models are much more in the weekend family cruiser market, whereas the newer boats have more of a luxury feel about them. All bridgedeck models are very well suited to warmer climates, as the side of the saloon adjoining the cockpit opens up completely to a very large living space.

In 1998, a 35 ft (10.5 m) purpose-designed day charter was introduced to the market. Called the Seawind Resort, it can carry up to 32 people and was a success especially on Australia's East coast.

The Seawind Regatta is a regular event and brings together around 25 cats for a day's racing.
