Farrier
Ian Farrier has designed several of the world's most popular sport cruising multihulls - a category of craft that he was a major force in developing, starting in the 1970s. At the end of 2003 more than 2000 Farrier-designed trimarans were sailing, of different models and brands. Most of these have been commercially produced in volume by several manufacturers. However, a sizeable proportion have also been constructed by home builders from kits or plans.
Farrier-designed multihulls are renowned for their sparkling performance and versatility as all-round cruisers. They can be raced, cruised, quickly folded up and towed away. They are very sporty yet, depending on size, they have the amenities and sea-kindliness for relaxing trips with friends or family.
The production boats are well proven and respected for their advanced production techniques and quality of materials used. The plans for home-building from Farrier Marine are reputed to be some of the most comprehensive available, and are backed up by active support from the designer. Kits or bare hull versions of some models can be bought as an intermediate way to do a quicker home build.
