The Telstar 8m was in production from 1979 to 1981. Most of these models were manufactured in the UK, though a few were made in the US until operations were curtailed due to a serious factory fire. No more Telstars were built until the brand was revived in 2003 with the Telstar 28. Two versions of the Telstar 8m were built; the Telstar 8m and the Telstar 8m/E. The 'E' stands for economy lightweight. She is lighter and has a somewhat taller rig.
