The Soubise 46 Racing, built using Freydis molds, is customized for transatlantic competition. The boat is has a carbon mast and Kevlar shrouds to keep the weight down and the center of gravity low. She is capable of more than 20 knots.
Twin helm stations ensure good visibility sailing to windward and for docking. She can be single-handed with practice. Twin electric winches make handling the mainsail easier.
The design of the Soubise 46 Racing makes few compromises in pursuit of its aspirations as a racer. In the interests of weight reduction, there is no generator on board. All power is supplied by solar panels and a large alternator.
The interior is configured for performance and convenience while racing. The saloon is simply furnished with a table and a long bench. The heads are off the saloon, on the bridgedeck. The cabin walls have no lining in the Soubise 46 Racing, though there is a heating system to reduce condensation. Sound insulation for the engine is minimal, which would make the cabins somewhat noisy under power.
