- Description:
The Seaon 96 is a high-performance cruiser-racer. She was first introduced to the racing circuit in May 2002, and achieved top ranking position for Swedish multihulls after her first season.
The trimaran was officially launched at the Stockholm International Boat Show in March 2003, where its sleek, modern lines and good overall design features attracted a lot of visitors. The low weight, high carbon content of the boat, coupled with a deck layout and gear optimised for fast sailing, aims the Seaon 96 at owners who are interested in racing (or at least in outstanding performance at speeds of well over 20 knots); however, features like a self-tacking jib and good interior also make for very comfortable, laid back cruising for 4-6 people.
The Seaon 96 is foldable to fit in a normal marina berth (width when folded: 3.4 m/11 ft 1 in); the floats and beams can be demounted for a trailering width of 2.4 m (7 ft 10 in).
This model's production was discontinued and replaced by the sightly modified Seaon_96crb, an all-carbon version.
- Type:
- Cruiser-racer
- Multihull type:
- Trimaran
- Construction:
Carbon fibre components: beams, bulkheads, mast, boom, bowsprit, daggerboards, rudder (rudder is only made of carbon on boats produced since August 2003).
Production of the rudder is in pre-preg carbon fibre cured at 125 degrees Celsius in an autoclave (technology used by the aviation industry).
- Sails and rigging:
- Rotating wingmast
- Retractable bowsprit
- Mainsail
- Self-tacking jib on a Harken track system
- Small jib
- Screacher
- Asymmetric spinnaker
For overall performance a carbon boom and high tech sails are recommended. To handle loads, and in line with overall quality ambitions, spectra halyards and Harken equipment are used exclusively for sail controls.
- Deck layout and gear:
Halyards are led to the cockpit with two multi-purpose, self-tailing Harken two speed winches, mounted on the cabin roof.
Folding by a block and tackle system in less than a minute. The hinges on the folding system are tested for more than 50 tons of design load.
- Keels, boards and rudders:
- Daggerboards
- Accommodation:
- Standing headroom in the double-sided galley
- The cabin sole is elevated to provide more comfortable seating for six
- Two aft berths
- Two settees double as berths

- Marine head integrated in the interior structure of the forepeak for best weight and hygiene performance - can be covered with a hatch
