Sagitta
- Brand:
- Woods
- Designed by:
- Lilian Woods, Woods Designs
- Yard(s):
- Multihull Centre
- Description:
The Sagitta is a cruiser/racer with outstanding performance; it is easy to handle and has excellent sea-keeping qualities. Two other designs from Woods use the same basic hulls as the Sagitta - Javelin, an open bridgedeck racer and Scorpio, a fast cruiser also with an open bridgedeck. Over 50 Sagittas have been built and are successfully raced and widely cruised.
Designed for comfort as well as speed, the Sagitta has a good-sized double cabin in the aft of each hull. The galley is large and very well equipped with ample working surfaces.
She is a very enjoyable boat to sail in all conditions with an easy motion and very little bridgedeck slam when going to windward, even in lumpy seas. Handling is responsive and light due to careful rudder design, and the forward visibility from the large sheltered cockpit is excellent.
The Sagitta is produced commercially as well as built by home builders from purchased plans. The somewhat larger 32 ft (9.9 m) Eclipse is based on this boat.
