Red Shift

 Home-built from plans

Brand:
Tennant
Designed by:
Malcolm Tennant Multihull Design Limited
Description:

The Red Shift is a racer with a good amount of space in the hulls for accommodation. Building the boat in lightweight stressed ply keeps the weight low. The hull volume is generous in the interests of a having more living space. A wing mast makes the rig very efficient, further compensating for the performance penalty of the larger hulls.

The designer writes that stressed ply is a relatively simple form of construction for the amateur and this technique is carried throughought the boat. The wing mast is a combination of alloy and stressed ply skin, which is easy to build. Aluminium or strip plank composite cross beams are used.
