- Description:
Launched in 1994, the Privilege 65 was the largest production catamaran from Jeantot Marine, and the grandest expression of sailing luxury from the company. She is a majestic yacht with her impressive size and sleek lines, with the Privilege trademark forward nacelle and highly sloped saloon roof contibuting an aerodynamic look. Little is spared to achieve safety and comfort in the design. Four watertight compartments make the boat virtually unsinkable. You could almost get lost in the elegantly decorated interior living space. Various layouts were available, depending mainly on how the central accommodation space, forward of the saloon, is configured. This could be an owner's master stateroom, or divided into two guest suites. Crew quarters with their own heads could be fitted into the forepeak. The cabin layout follows the usual Privilege standard; a well appointed stateroom with en-suite bathroom overlaps the bridgedeck in the either end of each hull. As usual the galley is down in the port hull and the navigation station in the saloon.
The saloon is a large open-plan space, lit from the side and overhead by the large 'wrap over' windows. Separate areas are equipped for a bar, for eating and for lounging. The deck area includes sunbathing mattresses, twin trampolines and two large stepped swim platforms. The huge cockpit can comfortably accommodate guests for open-air dining.
There are twin helm stations at the after end of the cockpit, and steering and sail handling can be done without undue intrusion on guests relaxing in the cockpit or on desk.
The Privilege 65 handles easily and smoothly with excellent manoeuverability and good visibility from the appropriate helm position. The boat has an easy motion in a seaway and little tendency to slam when driving into waves. A generous sail area helps to overcome the reduction in performance caused by a full cruising load.
