Privilege 48

- Privilege
- Designed by:
- Marc Lombard Architecture Navale
- Yard(s):
- Jeantot Marine
- Description:
The Privilege 48, also called the Privilege 14.7 and introduced in 1987, closely resembles the Privilege 47 which it replaced. Like its predessessor, the 48 was sold successfully into the charter market, and many are still in service in this business today. The Privilege 48, like the 47, has 4 guest staterooms with ensuite shower and heads, as well as an additional double crew cabin before the saloon, making the boats well configured for crewed charter. Both models have a large deck area of about 1200 sq ft (111 sq m), and are fitted out to a high standard.
The earliest Privileges have a low bridgedeck cabin height, which helps sailing performance by keeping windage low, but does not allow the generous headroom and panoramic views of most yachts of this class. This was addressed to a certain extent in the Privilege 48. Boats built from hull 30 onwards have a higher saloon roof.
