The Privilege 42 replaced the Privilege 39, the very successful bareboat charter catamaran. The 42 has the same 4 stateroom layout in the charter version as the predecessor, but with longer and wider hulls, improving firstly top speed, and secondly interior living space. The hulls of the 42 have a headroom of 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) and the saloon a headroom of 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m). There is an owner's version with 2 staterooms and an owner's suite.
