- Description:
The Ninja 8 trimaran is an exciting racer, sufficiently spacious and equipped for short coastal family cruises. Top speeds of well over 20 kts are achievable while comfortable dry cruising at an average of 10 kts might be extected.
On the race course the Ninja 8's powerful rig and generous sail area make her a serious contender, as do her excellent pointing and ability to sail a straight line. For instance, in her first summer's racing Jean Ligonnet's TICKLED PINK won the Plymouth - Falmouth race, competing against much larger multihulls.
The Ninja 8 is roomy for a boat of her size. Asymmetric daggerboards in the floats free up the accommodation space, there being no restricting daggerboard case in the main cabin. At the foot of the companionway there is full standing headroom, with a very serviceable galley opposite a quarter berth. A folding table with benches which convert to a double berth occupy the remainder of the main cabin. The forepeak has a double V-berth.
Generous freeboard keeps the crew dry, all lines can be managed from the cockpit, including reefing, ensuring safety and easy handling. Double bottoms, foam-filled watertight compartments and crash bulkheads are standard safety features.
An optional head can be fitted behind the companionway. The Ninja 8 is demountable and trailerable. A folding version is planned.
