Maine Cat 22
Description:

The Maine Cat 22 was designed by Dick Newick and built and introduced to the market by Maine Cat, USA in 1994 - the first production boat from the company. The day sailor catamaran is fast and comfortable, she hinges down the centreline for towing, and is straight forward to set up for trailering or sailing in 45 minutes or so with the help of an electric winch.

There are some novel features for a boat of this class designed to increase comfort aboard. The bridgedeck is rigid and extends considerably down the hulls. This provides a dry and stable platform upon which to enjoy the ride. Flared topsides contribute to keeping those aboard from getting wet by deflecting spray when the wind and pace hot up. The cockpit extends down into the hulls, providing comfortable seating protected by a windshield. The Maine Cat 22 has kick-up rudders and pivoting centreboards, and a very shallow draft with appendages up.

There is ample storage in the hulls for camping gear and a place for a Porta Potti. The rig is very simple to operate with a furling, self-tacking jib. About 20 Maine Cat 22s were built in the first two years of production.
