Louisiane 37

Brand:
Fountaine Pajot
Designed by:
Joubert/Nivelt Yacht Design
Yard(s):
Fountaine Pajot
Description:

The innovative Louisiane 37 was the first of a new generation of cruising catamarans that are comfortable, fast and easy to sail. When she was introduced in 1983 she was acclaimed as a 'true' liveaboard capable of out-distancing monohulls both on and off the wind. The design was based somewhat on CHARENTE-MARITINE, the famous racing catamaran, from the same designers and builders, which achieved outstanding success in 1982.
Drawing from their experience with composite materials and racing boats, the yard and design team made the Louisiane 37 a light-weight, good performer which was fun to sail. The combination of performance and comfortable accommodation was a revolution in cruising cats at the time and set a new trend.

The Louisiane 37 has high bows and an attractive sheerline curve. Windward performance is enhanced by centreboards, though they were replaced by fixed keels in later models, which became the norm for all Fountaine Pajot catamarans. Some vessels have outboards, others are fitted with inboards.

Over 90 units were built between 1983 and 1988.
