- Description:
Gemini catamarans have been outstandingly popular in Performance Cruising's home US market with more than 800 boats built between the introduction of the first version in 1983 and 2004. The design and manufacturing process of Geminis is refined to boost the key virtues giving them continuing broad appeal to those who want to go cruising - good price; good performance; practical handling and comfortable living. Series production of a single model at a time helps Performance Cruising keep the price of a new boat among the lowest for comparable craft. Centreboards, unusual in pure cruising cats, improve windward performance, whereas their kick-up feature alleviates the risks from damage to these underwater appendages from grounding.
The result is a better performing craft with no more hassle in shallow waters than with a boat with less efficient low aspect ratio fixed keels. Geminis, though small, have always been noted for having exceptionally well designed accommodation for a cruising couple with occasional guests, or a small family.
The 105Mc model, introduced in 2003, is a development of the 105M. In the new model many of the accommodation facilities have been improved, including the galley, heads and the air conditioning. Most visibly, however, the cockpit of the 105Mc can be temporarily enclosed with either canvas or solid panels.
