Gemini 105M

Brand:
Gemini
Designed by:
Performance Cruising Inc. (Tony Smith)
Yard(s):
Performance Cruising Inc.
Description:

The Gemini 105M, introduced in 1995, was the first complete redesign in the history of this popular series of comfortable affordable cruisers, previous models being all based closely on the earliest Gemini, the Phoenix 31. There were improvements all-round.

The hull lines were redrawn with a more pronounced 'tear-drop' waterline shape with the maximum beam further aft to reduce wave drag. With a 9:1 length-to-beam ratio, the new Gemini hulls are wider than their predecessors, with more load-carrying capacity, yet compared with the former design Performance Cruising has managed to reduce wetted area significantly. Flat hull sections aft, with 5 degrees of deadrise, encourage the boat on to a plane in suitable conditions.

The new hulls also have higher static stability, allowing more sail to be carried, as well as providing more interior volume for improving the accommodation. Modifications to the structure and manufacturing process have enhanced the stiffness of the hull to increase seaworthiness for trans-ocean cruising. Attention was also paid to the fit and finish of the boat's interior.
