Fima 72

 Home-built from plans

Brand:
Tennant
Designed by:
Malcolm Tennant Multihull Design Limited
Description:

The Fima 72, built in aluminium, is a self-sufficient luxury sailing yacht capable of world-girding voyages.

The major feature of the interior is a very large owner,s stateroom spanning the bridgedeck forward of the mast. There are four double staterooms and the crew’s quarters in the hulls, each with en-suite head and shower. In the port hull there is a photographic darkroom and wine cellar. On the cantilevered aft deck is a spa pool with stowage for a RIB underneath the deck. The cockpit contains a bar and barbeque along with a table for alfresco dining.

The nerve centre of the boat is the enclosed wheelhouse slightly offset to the starboard side and located aft of the saloon. All sailing functions for the vessel can be performed from here using a battery of electric winches.

Aft in the starboard hull there is a well equipped workshop, including a MIG welder for repairs in aluminium as well as storage for two jet skis. The corresponding space in the port hull contains diving equipment including a compressor, and also a rubbish compactor.

The rig is a fractional 7/8 cutter with three swept back spreaders. All sails, including the main, are hydraulic roller-furling. The auxiliary engines are 100hp per side Yanmar diesels driving controllable pitch propellers. The 7200 litres of fuel oil in the integral fuel tanks give the vessel great range.
