FastCat 435

Brand:
African Cats
Designed by:
Lavranos Marine Design Ltd, African Cats B.V.
Description:

The FastCat 435 is a lightweight performance ocean-cruising catamaran built in the Vector-K system with epoxy resin infusion, PVC foam carbon, kevlar and 3-D glass.

The main target is the live-aboard segment, who would likely to use this catamaran for extensive cruising for up to 6 people in comfort. The boat was designed with ergonomics in mind. It has spacious living areas, two king-sized beds in the rear and two singles up front.

Type:
Cruiser-racer
Multihull type:
Catamaran
Construction:
  • Vector-K building method with resin-infused epoxy, foam, 3-D glass, carbon fibre, and Kevlar impact protection system
  • No gel coat; all Vector-K yachts' interior and exterior are finished with high quality 2K polyurethane spray paint
Sails and rigging:
  • Fractional sloop rig
  • Aluminium mast. Carbon is an option.
  • Other options are bowsprit, gennaker, spinnaker, screacher, and Parasail.
Deck layout and gear:
  • All sail handling is done from the cockpit
  • Reefing also from cockpit, using the three reefing points with single line reefing.
  • All halyards are led through a tunnel under deck from the mast to the central winch in the cockpit. This creates an uncluttered deck with only the genoa sheets on top of the saloon.
  • Wide walk ways alongside the saloon area.
  • The cockpit area is raised for better visibility over saloon roof.
  • Compression beam made from carbon fibre, .2 ft (60 cm) wide between the trampolines, making a sure foothold when changing a sail or when anchoring.
Keels, boards and rudders:
  • High aspect ratio fin keels made from carbon and Kevlar
  • Rudder is made completely out of carbon fibre
  • Daggerboards (also carbon) are optional.
