F-36 profile
Description:

The Farrier F-36 is an ocean-going cruising multihull with demountable (not folding) floats for occasional trailering. The boat can be home-built from plans. Like all Farrier designs the trimaran is a stunning performer that is also exceptionally well behaved and can be equally well raced for a blast of adrenaline or cruised at leisure. The fractional rig is easy to handle in all conditions, with optional boom reefing and self-tacking jib. The floats are designed to resist immersion on the windward bow and to throw back spray, ensuring a safe, dry ride when at speed in windy conditions.

There is standing headroom the main cabin, though the cabin height is low, minimising the performance penalty from windage.

Building plans contain options for materials, cabin layouts and rigs, and the final displacement of the boat will vary accordingly. Hulls and floats may be foam cored fibreglass or strip planked in cedar. The aft cockpit version has a larger outside seating area with easier access to the stern, whereas the centre cockpit has a more protected helm location and the benefit of a separate aft cabin.

With the floats demounted the F-36 has a trailering width of 10 ft (3.05 m). This width requires an easily obtained permit in most countries.

The F-39 is an evolution of this design.
