Farrier F-33
- Brand:
- Farrier
- Designed by:
- Farrier Marine
- Description:
The F-33 is a fast cruiser, which is fully trailerable and yet has ocean-going capability. The construction of the boats is highly optimised: advanced construction techniques are employed to ensure the maximum design efficiency, making the boats exhilerating performers and the fastest in their class to be found anywhere. Factory-built bare hulls may be purchased and then fitted out at home. Fully complete production boats are also available.
F-33 Sport Cruiser
A versatile, high performance, roomy cruiser, available in both aft cabin and aft cockpit versions.F-33R Sport Racer
A very high performance version, with a more basic interior and a taller carbon mast. Available in both aft cabin and aft cockpit versions.F-33ST SUPERTRI
An exhilarating boat and the fastest Farrier trailerable design up to now. Designed for those who want a premier performance trimaran without cutting any corners. Specifications include fully vacuum-bagged epoxy, all-carbon construction and a rotating carbon wing mast. Both the F-33R and the F-33ST have the potential to out-perform any other cruiser/racer, the advanced epoxy construction system and materials giving a weight-saving of over 400 lbs (180 kg) compared to any equivalent polyester/gelcoat production boat.
Like all Farrier designs, the F-33 models are not uncompromising speed machines in spite of their performance potential. They are safe and roomy enough to be enjoyed at every speed intensity, from a leisurely pace up. The folded beam for narrow berthing and trailering is 9 ft 6 in (2.9 m).
The bare weight depends on the model and varies from 2800 lbs (1279 kg) to 3700 lbs (1680 kg).Production was suspended after only 10 models were made, because fluctuating exchange rates meant the business model was no longer feasible. The boat was subsequently introduced in this version as plans for home builders, model name F-32 (click here for the F-32 page). Farrier Marine hopes to make the production model available again in the future.
- Type:
- Cruiser-racer
- Multihull type:
- Trimaran
- Construction:
Hulls and decks: all epoxy foam core hulls, epoxy carbon/glass fibre beams, all extensively vacuum-bagged, and finished with a two pack linear polyurethane (LP) finish. The F-33R uses more carbon fibre in selected structural areas, for the maximum cost/weight benefit, while the F-33ST is all carbon.
Floats: the F-33 float bow tips are designed to be sacrificial, similar to a car crumple zone, and will absorb any float bow heavy impact, to help prevent more extensive damage that can result from collisions. The ama will remain watertight, and still sailable in most collision situations. A new bow is simply glued on to repair.
Rig: metal use is minimised wherever possible, with all chainplates made from carbon fibre, and all rigging is synthetic.
