Eclipse 32

 Home-built from plans

Brand:
Woods
Designed by:
Woods Designs, Lilian Woods
Description:

The Eclipse 32 is a comfortable and practical ocean cruiser with outstanding all-round performance. The design is one of the most recent, drawn by Richard and Lilian Woods who built the prototype and sailed it across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. With standing headroom throughout, roomy cabins aft, large galley and saloon seating for seven, the Eclipse has ample amenities for liveaboard and long-distance cruising.

She beats to windward with no bridgedeck slamming. A pronounced knuckle and a high bridgedeck clearance virtually eliminate this problem. The Eclipse is light on the helm, which can be either tiller or wheel, and there is very good visibility from the cockpit, as well as from the saloon.

Top speeds over 20 knots are achievable in safety. To windward tacking through less than 90 degrees at 8.5 knots has been recorded.

The Eclipse 99 is a commercially  produced version of this boat, built in fibreglass/foam sandwich by the Multihull Centre, UK
