Corsair 28AC
- Brand:
- Corsair
- Yard(s):
- Corsair Marine Inc.
- Description:
Many sailors attracted to the fun of high performance sailing would also like to take their friends for some easy sailing in reasonable comfort, perhaps do some weekend cruising with their family and sometimes explore new waters. Corsair boats do all these things very well and with reliability and safety.
The first and highly successful Corsair model was the F-27. The Corsair 28s replace this boat and though similar, have several significant improvements. There is a standard version of the 28 and a racing version, the 28R. Both versions are available in aft cockpit AC and centre cockpit CC configurations.
All 28s have a very efficient and powerful rig with a rotating mast and bowsprit. The 19 ft 9 in (6.1 m) beam and high buoyancy floats gives the boats enormous safety and stability. With a displacement of only 2700 lbs (1227 kg) they have an exhilerating performance.
With sleeping accommodation for four, a galley and heads, there are sufficient amenities aboard for family overnight cruising.
The boat is quickly launched from a trailer, the transition from trailer to being setup for sailing taking only 30 minutes. This means it is easy to tow by road to have a much wider cruising area. Retracting daggerboards reduces the draft of the Corsair 28 to 1 ft 2 in (0.36 m), allowing passage through shallows and access to beaches.
