The Broadblue 42 is a strikingly original design and quite a departure from the previous Broadblues, though the philosophy of the line remains the same: safe, comfortable, ocean passage making and enduring quality of interiors. The hull emphasises its design for good sea-keeping. Topsides are high and furthermore, her sheerline rises up to form lofty overhanging bows with ample reserve buoyancy. These massive bows will resist depression, prevent pitchpoling and keep the boat dry.
The bridgedeck is high off the water with a small central nacelle for added stiffness.
The saloon has a large galley, chart table and dining area and almost 360 degrees of panoramic view through toughened glass. The standard layout in the hulls is two double cabins and one heads per hull.
The Broadblue 42 has a high load-carrying capacity for her length of almost 3000 kg, yet has excellent all-round performance under sail and power.

Hull and deck are both one-piece mouldings in hand laid glass fibre, using powder-bound mat, biaxial woven rovings, isopthalic resin, and Kevlar reinforcement in high load areas. Below the waterline, the hulls are solid laminate, while the topsides and deck incorporate an end grain balsa core. The hull and deck join is fully bonded and protected by a substantial rubbing strake. Keels are integrally moulded and sealed off from the hulls forming a double bottom.
